Hey All,
In my quest to get to know the area a little bit better, I wanted to ask the group what gaming stores they frequent the most. Which stores carry the best RPG products? Which stores are more gamer-friendly vs. main-stream friendly? Which stores run instore games? etc. In a lot of my past experience, a great gaming store is the cornerstone of a great gaming community. What does Rhode Island have to offer? Thanks! -Jeff |

Sadly not much, I frequent Gamers Haven at the Lincoln Mall, they stock a full line of 3.5 books (all the supplements and the core rule books) and they carry dice, battlemats, reaper minis and plenty of other fun games. Also they have a back room where they run card tournaments and RP games,
Check them out. If you're into a short drive to Bridgewater MA, check out Scholars': (30 minutes from Providence) 34 Central Square Bridgewater, Massachusetts 02324 (800) 823-1712 Map Quest will get you there. This guy has an old school hobby shop, books, minis everything and anything you could ever want all under one roof, and like Gamers Haven he provides space for people to RP. |

I know of a few gaming stores.
Your Move Games in North Providence (it's hidden in a plaza with a Town Faire Tire on the corner of Mineral Spring Ave and whatever Douglass St becomes in N. Prov). It's mostly warhammer stuff, with a tiny bookshelf of D&D stuff and some dice. The Gamekeeper in the Providence Arcade is more of a general games & hobby store, but I think GAGA (Greater Attleboro Gaming Association) has games there. More strategy and board games I think than RPGs. Sarge's Comics in New London CT is where I've had the best luck getting D&D stuff, although at this point I don't think I'd want to drive all the way down there. Still, when I ran my one-shot last year I basically talked to their gaming guy (I think his name is Mort or Milt or something) on the phone and went over each encounter and he special-ordered all the minis I needed. They have a huge selection of books and modules from seeming every 3rd party out there. They also have tons of comics and anime and toys and such, and a lot of the employees aren't that familiar with the gaming stuff, so you have to talk to Milt. |

Rivendel Books and games is a amazing store. the website rivendelbooksandgames.com is but the tip of the iceburg.
There is almost always a game of casual magic going on just about any day the store is open, my buddy and I are there every Tuesday from open till close playing magic. There are TONS of Magic singles as well. There are some good mini games there and he sells singles of mini's. The selection of D&D books is amazing and all the little things players and GM's look for as well, his dice selection is the best I have seen. The store has Lord of the Rings busts that are just amazing, if your a fan of L.O.T.R you got to check out the cool busts. Going to this store for 3+ years now I have to say it is a freindly and well run store, Rob makes you feel welcome and his store is well kept. Go check it out and if you play casual magic or want to dust off your thalid deck come by any Tuesday and you find myself and my buddy playing Magic. |
