Auugh why do people do this

Yes, psionics was broken in 2E and 3.0e. It was fixed in 3.5, the Pathfinder updates maintain this (and nerf the energy type versatility). The only sense in which psionics is 'broken' is the same sense in which all primary spellcasters are potentially more powerful than anything else in the game. The only difference is psions are slightly better at nova-ing than wizards, which if taken to extremes is a bad tactic in the first place that can be countered by having more than one encounter per day. Please do not keep supporting these dumb opinions, let people read the psionics rules and decide for themselves.

If you have trouble understanding the psionics rules (It's easy to miss some little things like not being able to spend more than your manifester level in power points on a single power), feel free to refer to this handy FAQ regarding the percieved issues: Myth: The XPH is Overpowered.

As for 'core'ness, psionics was in the 3.0 and 3.5 SRD. Psionics Unleashed just updates things to bring them in line with pathfinder. You think Paizo should spend time redoing Dreamscarred Press's years of work on this?

</rant>
Sorry, I just can't believe the amount of prejudice against Psionics after the rules have been fixed for over 7 years. I can understand 'I don't allow anything I haven't read', but don't consider psionics as less worth reading than other material because it's 'broken'. It isn't. In short it's magic with spell points (although that is an oversimplification -- there's enough difference to make it interesting, just like there's room for the wizard, sorcerer, and witch as primary arcane casters).

That said, while I'll defend psionics, I'm not going to push for allowing it unless I or someone else decides they want to play something psionic.

As far as I know Pathfinder does not have Psions as of yet. (I'm a firm believer of keeping 3.5 and Pathfinder separate.

as for the game, life is hetic with 3rd shift right now as well as life stuff.

So with things back to normal, I am opening this back up. One caveat, the game would be during the day either Tuesday or Wednesday, from say 11am-4pm.

So if anyone is interested, please let me know

I would be interested in playing Pathfinder with you all- Tuesday or Wednesday works, but I'll have to double-check my schedule.

Regarding Psionics, sometimes it's not the mechanics that bother people; it is the clash of settings such as guns in a medieval world or in most cases: psionics.

I actually posted to introduce myself. I am the new Boston area Venture-Captain for the Pathfinder Society. I'm hoping to get a PFS game going in the Providence area eventually. I've got a friend who lives in Warwick who will be the PFS coordinator at TempleCon 2012.

Which game stores would be best to offer a PFS game? How much player interest might there be? I could only get down to the Providence area on the weekends so I'm hoping to find a GM that could run PFS monthly or even weekly at a local store.

I'm leaning towards the Game Den, but I know there are several other stores and I want to go where the interest is.

Game On in Warwick would be a good place.

I know they run Wednesday 4e stuff.

I'd be interested, but like the post says, I can only do day time right now during the week.

Wow, you're still trying to get this game started?

Perhaps alternating wednesdays at Game On, when Encounters isn't running? I'm busy tuesdays, sundays, and Saturdays, myself.

Psionics Unleashed @ d20pfsrd.com
Psionics Unleashed is not official, but Dreamscarred Press seems to have fairly positive reactions from psionics fans. If you want to give psionics in pathfinder a try ever, here's the place to look. And you can always just reflavor it to be magic with spellpoints as suits your world.

As for me, I'm playing a ranged-archetype soulknife (DSP has embraced archetypes in their Psionics Expanded books) in my friend's tueday campaign, so that covers my need to try psionics at the moment.
