Hey all, most know me from Veterans, and Temple Con as a DM for 4.0 LFR. I have been reading up and running a Pathfinder for a month or so and I really enjoy it. However, I need to find a different group due to various reasons.

So here's the deal, I'd like to find a group that would not mind meeting at Veteran's (soon to be Game On) in Warwick, during the week say from 7:30 till 10? This group should be mature, and want to game with the brief amount of time we would have.

I would DM and my fiance would be possibly playing (she is new to gaming, but enjoys it), so if that is something you do not like (dont worry we are non pda, nor do we hold our private lives in the gaming environment as dirty laundry) then this group would not be for you.

Also, if we needed to host somewhere other than the store, we both prefer non smokers, or smokers who would not mind smoking outside. This is due to her being very alergic to cigarette smoke.

And finally, the days we would like to meet up (or if it is just me) are Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday (yes we will and can share the store with the 4e people if needed).

Please contact me @ jcarrier01@snet.net and we can go from there.

Just to give you a heads up Jason, I'd knock Wednesday off of possible days. Much as I'd love to have another RPG presence at Veteran's, that night has both the Encounters program AND Legacy MtG tournaments happening there already. With the possible addition of comics, that'll make Wednesday even more chaotic. I would suggest grabbing a different night, if only for the sake of your own sanity.

I would love to play Pathfinder, Monday or Tuesday could work for me. Do you allow Advanced Player's Guide and Ultimate Magic, or are you the 'You can only use what they were able to squeeze into the first book, core only!' stickler type? If you only allow use of books you have access to, the APG as well as Psionics Unleashed are on www.d20pfsrd.com and I have a legally obtained pdf of Ultimate Magic.

Scott,

I only have access up to APG right now and have not sat down with Ultimate Magic. While I am far from a stickler, I'd choose to stay with classes I have read up on.

Tanios,

Didnt realize the Store was that busy now on Wednesdays, and when I was in there last they had a bunch more tables to play on.

Good news! Ultimate Magic material has been added to www.d20pfsrd.com!

Anyway I am eager for a new game whatever is allowed and I am available any day but wed or thu. Sun may be unavailable too soon.

Scott,

I have read Ultimate Magic, very good splat book.

Still looking for more players, or it may end up either falling through or a Gestalt style campaign

The lack of other people responding to this discussion saddens me. Is there really no interest in a pathfinder game?

I have interest in a Pathfinder game during the week, but a couple things concern me; I would prefer a solid 3 hour time slot, two and a half seems to be cutting it a little too close. I'm also concerned when anyone brings up "Psions" in anything save 4.0. You hear that? That's the sound of broken cackling. I could also talk to a couple friends and see if they have any interest.

Well my schedule is now clear, so I will be able to do a longer time slot.

Sidestory: I started this when I was working till 6:30pm and it would be about an hr to get to the store, now I work 3rds and have Tuesday off.

Greg, no problem with Psionics, I dont and wont include anything that is not in a "core" book or that I have not read or understand.

Auugh why do people do this

Yes, psionics was broken in 2E and 3.0e. It was fixed in 3.5, the Pathfinder updates maintain this (and nerf the energy type versatility). The only sense in which psionics is 'broken' is the same sense in which all primary spellcasters are potentially more powerful than anything else in the game. The only difference is psions are slightly better at nova-ing than wizards, which if taken to extremes is a bad tactic in the first place that can be countered by having more than one encounter per day. Please do not keep supporting these dumb opinions, let people read the psionics rules and decide for themselves.

If you have trouble understanding the psionics rules (It's easy to miss some little things like not being able to spend more than your manifester level in power points on a single power), feel free to refer to this handy FAQ regarding the percieved issues: Myth: The XPH is Overpowered.

As for 'core'ness, psionics was in the 3.0 and 3.5 SRD. Psionics Unleashed just updates things to bring them in line with pathfinder. You think Paizo should spend time redoing Dreamscarred Press's years of work on this?

</rant>
Sorry, I just can't believe the amount of prejudice against Psionics after the rules have been fixed for over 7 years. I can understand 'I don't allow anything I haven't read', but don't consider psionics as less worth reading than other material because it's 'broken'. It isn't. In short it's magic with spell points (although that is an oversimplification -- there's enough difference to make it interesting, just like there's room for the wizard, sorcerer, and witch as primary arcane casters).

That said, while I'll defend psionics, I'm not going to push for allowing it unless I or someone else decides they want to play something psionic.
